General Motor overtake Toyota as the number one automaker
As we know, on March 11 there’s earthquake and tsunami hit Japan. It cause trouble to Japanese carmaker. The biggest carmaker, Toyota get the affect and their production drop by 23% to 3.37 million unit for first half of the year. The problem cause Toyota lost the world’s largest automaker title to General Motors this year.

Not just because of Toyota drop, General Motors also rise their sales by 8.9% to 4.536 million unit for first half of 2011. Volkswagen Group also overtake Toyota to become 2nd largest carmaker after get sold 4.13 million units worldwide.
However, Toyota has announced that their on the track and its factory has operate at 90% of the capacity since June and expecto to fully recover by November 2011. It also will produce additional 350,000 unit from October until next March to cover their lost.

It ain’t easy to recover after get the problem like that. But Toyota is confident to recover soon. It is good example for our carmaker.
